I heard this partially quoted in a Dallas Theological Seminary Chapel podcast (in a message preached by Brent Burckart on 10-18-16) so I looked it up to get the full text. For those may not be in the midst of studying explorers with their kids like I am, or who may not remember him from world history, Sir Francis Drake was the first to circumnavigate the world, between 1577-1580. What a powerful prayer.
The Prayer of Sir Francis Drake
"Disturb us, Lord, when we are too well pleased with ourselves,
When our dreams have come true because we have dreamed too little,
When we arrived safely because we sailed too close to the shore.
Disturb us, Lord, when with the abundance of things we possess
We have lost our thirst for the waters of life;
Having fallen in love with life, we have ceased to dream of eternity
And in our efforts to build a new earth, we have allowed our vision Of the new Heaven to dim.
Disturb us, Lord, to dare more boldly, to venture on wider seas
Where storms will show your mastery;
Where losing sight of land, we shall find the stars.
We ask You to push back the horizons of our hopes;
And to push into the future in strength, courage, hope, and love."
Disturb us, Lord.

"When our dreams have come true because we have dreamed too little," that one is me. One thing I have learned from Beth Moore is to DREAM BIG. Ask for the sky, the Lord loves it when you do that. I am learning =)) I get nervous...one example I am praying for our future new house. I don't want to dream big, I pray our needs will be met. My desire is not to have a big house. But I almost feel like the Lord is saying "dream big" (not that he will bless me with a big house, but that he will bless me beyond what I am asking for). Does that make since? Great prayer.
I would like the Lord to disturb me...That is a really neat prayer. I have to remember that. I like the 'disturbed' moments in my car every day...
